The words above describe core values of Thrive Behavior Consulting LLC. Each family receiving services from Thrive Behavior Consulting LLC will be offered the highest clinical quality of services and receive an individualized model based on the values and needs of each family and individual client. Thrive Behavior Consulting LLC will provide a clinical recommendation to families based on their expertise, however treatment follows a flexible model depending on the factors of importance as specified by caregivers and/or clients.

 

Thrive Behavior Consulting offers 2 main models of treatment- caregiver consultation with limited direct sessions and caregiver consultation with weekly direct sessions. Please see explanations of both models below.

At Thrive Behavior Consulting LLC, obtaining assent when working directly with clients is an integral part of treatment. Typically, a blend of learner and clinician led tasks makes up a typical therapy session. Clinician led tasks are only presented when clear rapport has been demonstrated between provider and learner. It is of upmost importance the therapeutic relationship between provider and client is one of trust and integrity. 

Training Content Examples

Below you will find a list of a few content examples of what a caregiver training session may consist of: ​

  • General consultation with caregiver questions and concerns regarding their learner. 

  • Clinician led examples to target generalization. 

  • Observations during challenging times with BCBA live support. 

  • Building interim behavior plans with focus on antecedent supports. 

  • Teach ABA strategies and terminology as appropriate. 

  • Teach data collection strategies and utilize caregiver collected data to support interventions or modifications. 

  • Teach various caregiver tools to ultimately increase confidence in managing behavior and decrease stress.

Functional Skills 

Each treatment plan will be tailored to the individual based on their needs and values. Below are some example domain areas targeted during treatment. 

Behavior Reduction

Challenging behavior impeding a learner's accessibility to their environment, learning, or reinforcers. 

Language Skills

Some examples include asking for wants and needs, following instructions, commenting on environmental stimuli, and increasing labeling repertoire to support conversational language. 

Executive Functions

The CEO of the brain. Planning, problem solving, emotional regulation, attentions skills, inhibition, and self monitoring. 

Social & Play Skills

Some basic examples include imitation, gaining attention, sharing and turn-taking, and following peer plans. Some more advanced examples include understanding social contexts, body language and social cues, and engaging in more advanced social interactions.

Adaptive Skills

Some examples include grooming skills (teeth care, hair care, bathing, etc.) or self help skills (cleaning, cooking, independent skills, etc.)

Theory of Mind

Theory of Mind skills may be embedded within social as well, however this domain area focuses on perspective taking and anticipating and understanding the needs and wants of others. Examples include emotion recognition, understanding intentions, and adjusting behavior based on others.
